Falcons Defeat The Gators For The Second Time This Season In The USJ Holiday Tournament

West Hartford, CT- The Men's hoops team bounced back from Saturday's tough contest and defeated the Pine Manor College Gators for the second time this season in the Consolation Game of the USJ Holiday Tournament. The Falcons jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first two minutes of play and never looked back as they held the lead for the entire game, taking it 83-63. With the win the Falcons improve to 6-6 while the Gators drop to 2-11.

Jason Augliera (Discovery Bay, CA), who was voted to the USJ All-Tournament team kicked off the game with a trifecta, his first of six on the afternoon. The junior guard paced the offense with 20 points, shooting an impressive 70% (7 for 10) from the floor, while adding seven boards and a pair of steals in the win. Shots from behind the arc were the difference for the Falcons in the first half as the team shot a season high 75% (9 for 12) from behind the line that put Fisher up 48-29 at the break. 

The Gators hung tough in the second half, but the Falcons continued to shoot well and outscored PMC 35-34 in the second half for the victory. Overall the Falcons shooting was a bright spot, shooting nearly 50% from the floor. Aside from Augliera, Jhalen Lumpkins (Sacramento, CA) and Kyle Williams (Fairfield, CA) also notched double figures as they scored 19 and 10 points respectively, while Lumpkins added seven rebounds and seven assists in the win. Jalen Williams led the way for the Gators as he tallied 22 points, while Sayvonn Houston finished with a double-double as he finished with 14 points and 12 boards in the losing effort.

The Falcons will be back in action on Friday, January 3rd when they head to Gordon College for a 7:30pm matchup.
