Men's Hoops Win Their Second Straight With A Win Over The Camels

Lynn, MA- Competing in their fifth game in seven days, the Fisher Men's Basketball team made a second half surge to take a 72-60 victory over the visiting Connecticut College Camels at Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium. This is the Falcons second straight win, improving the team's record to 9-9, while the Camels fall to 3-11 on the season.

Neither team could get much going early on as the two teams combined for just 21 points over the first 12 minutes of play. The offense for both sides improved the rest of the first half though, as the Camels hit 6 of their next 10 shots, while the Falcons shot 66% from the field in the last eight minutes to take a 36-27 lead into the locker room.

The Falcons looked to close the door on the Camels early in the second half, leading by as many as 19 with less than nine minutes left to play. But CC would not go quietly, using a full court press to pressure the Falcons and proving useful in their comeback. The Camels made it a 60-52 game at the 4:41 mark after going on a 15-3 run, forcing a Coach Blouin timeout. After the Camels made it a six-point game after hitting two straight 3's, senior Paul Oha Jr (Antioch, CA) hit back-to-back buckets, including an emphatic dunk, that pushed it back up to eight with :35 seconds to play. The Camels were forced to foul and the Falcons' Jason Augliera (Discovery Bay, CA) and Jhalen Lumpkins (Sacramento, CA) were perfect at the line to seal the 72-60 win.

Lumpkins led all scorers for the second straight game, finishing with 20 points while adding seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. Nicolas Gonzalez tallied double figures, adding 12 points, while Oha Jr. led the way in rebounds with 10. Patrick Lazor and Chris Towey were the top scorers for the Camels, scoring 16 and 14 points respectively, while combining for eight rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.

Fisher will be off until Friday when they play host to Villa Maria with the game slated for a 5pm start.
