Men's Basketball: Falcons close out first-half with win at Maine Maritime

CASTINE, MAINE – The Fisher College Men's Basketball team closed out the first semester of action this afternoon with a 95-84 win on the road at Maine Maritime Academy. The Falcons are now 4-8 overall on the season while the Mariners stumble to 2-7.

Six different student-athletes reached double-figures in scoring for Fisher this afternoon led by a pair of 18-point efforts from senior Chris Lennear (Sacramento, Calif.) and junior Johnny Ortiz (Boston, Mass.). Lennear was 7-for-9 from the field along with scooping up six rebounds while Ortiz shot 6-for-10 and recorded seven rebounds. Senior Justin Person (Flint, Mich.) added 14 points off the bench for the Falcons and freshman Ke'Andre Penceal (Coram, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 points. Josiah Patton and junior Kyle Butler-Gaffney (Liverpool, N.Y.) each provided 11 points in the win this afternoon.

Maine Maritime saw freshman Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) match both Lennear and Ortiz for the game-high with 18 points. Heinz was 7-for-12 from the field and collected the game-high 13 rebounds for a double-double effort. Classmate Cameron Kingsbury (Port Clyde, Maine) finished with 12 points off the bench and starters, freshmen Markus Ramirez (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Carter Rubin (Littleton, Colo.), ended their afternoons with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Fisher will return to action as the calendar flips to 2022 as they are slated to host Berkeley College (N.Y.) on Friday, January 7. Maine Maritime will also return to action in 2022 as they travel to Colby College on January 2.
