Men's Basketball: Falcons soar to victory over BSC-Syracuse

BROOKLINE, MASS. - The Fisher College Men's Basketball team grinded out a hard-fought 90-78 victory this evening over visiting Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse inside the Pappas Gymnasium. The Falcons are now 5-10 overall on the season while the Bobcats stumble to 7-8.

Junior Johnny Ortiz (Boston, Mass.) led all scorers as he shot 7-of-14 from the field and finished with 21 points. Freshman Ke'Andre Penceal (Coram, N.Y.) added 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting and senior Rafeeq Reid (Jersey City, N.J.) was a perfect 7-for-7 and ending his evening with 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman Geovanni Baugh (Copiague, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points off the bench for the Falcons in the win.

BSC-Syracuse saw five different student-athletes reach double-figures in scoring led by a pair of 16-point efforts from juniors Kenneth Richardson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Teequan Holley (Jamaica, N.Y.). Holley also finished the night with a game-high 11 rebounds for the game's only double-double effort. Senior Cheikh Dieng (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 15 points while sophomore Jameel Abdallah (New York, N.Y.) contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Senior Josue Oreste (Queens, N.Y.) provided 11 points in a reserve effort for the Bobcats in the loss.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday afternoon. Fisher will travel up to Vermont Technical College for a 1pm tipoff. BSC-Syracuse will battle the University of Maine-Fort Kent at 1pm in a conference matchup here inside the Pappas Gymnasium. The Falcons will then host UMFK in a 6pm contest on Monday night at 6pm.
