Men's Basketball: Anderson, Falcons top Maine Maritime

CASTINE, MAINE – Senior Dakota Gillespie (El Paso, Texas) recorded a double-double as the Fisher College Men's Basketball team picked up an 85-80 win this evening over Maine Maritime Academy. The win lifts the Falcons over the .500 mark with a 3-2 overall record. Maine Maritime dips to 1-2 on the season.

Gillespie was one of four Falcons to reach the double-digit plateau in scoring. He finished with 14 points while collecting 13 rebounds. Junior Jalen Anderson (Charlottesville, Va.) was the leading scorer as he chipped in with 19 points off the bench. Junior Joel Finney (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore Cross Bandy (Bronx, N.Y.) ended their evenings with 15 and 17 points, respectively.

The Mariners also saw four student-athletes finished in double digits, led by sophomore Josiah Dancy's (Orlando, Fla.) 26-point effort. Junior Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) pulled down 21 rebounds to go along with his 13 points for his own double-double and the duo of junior Markus Ramirez (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and sophomore Isaiah Oquendo (Orlando, Fla.) totaled 14 and 11 points, respectively, in the loss for the Mariners.

Fisher will enjoy an extended break for the Thanksgiving holiday as they will return to the court on Friday, December 1st at home against Villa Maria College. Maine Maritime will have just 48 hours to recover as they get set to host Bowdoin College on Sunday afternoon.
