LAWERENCEVILLE, GA. – The Continental Athletic Conference announced earlier this morning that the Fisher College Men's Basketball team has been selected to compete for the 2025 CAC Men's Basketball Championship. The annual conference tournament will take place February 27-March 2 and is being hosted by Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.
The single-elimination tournament will feature an eight-team field with defending conference champion, Florida College claiming the tournament's top seed. The Falcons earned the fourth seed, the highest ever CAC/AII post-season seeding in program history, and will battle fifth seeded Northern New Mexico College.
Quarterfinal round games are scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 27 and Friday, February 28. The winning teams will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 1, before a champion is crowned on Sunday, March 2. The champion will receive the CAC's automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
This is the third consecutive season that the Falcons have earned a post-season bid and the seventh since joining the CAC (formerly known as the A.I.I.). In the previous six appearances, the Falcons have yet to advance to the semifinals. Last season they fell to Washington Adventist, 94-92 and also lost their only matchup with Northern New Mexico (84-78 in 2015).
The Falcons finished the regular season with a 13-12 overall record with a 4-5 mark against conference opponents. Offensively, the team averaged 84.1 point per game and was paced by senior Ke'Andre Penceal. The Coram, New York native led the group with 17.6 ppg on 162-of-329 (49.2%) shooting from the floor. The four-year standout has totaled over 1,700 points in his career which places him fourth on the all-time scoring list in program history. He finished the regular season with 1,741 career points.
Bolstering the offensive efforts this season has been juniors Justin Covington (New Haven, Conn.) and Anthony Douglas Jr. (East Hartford, Conn.). Covington is currently averaging 15.5 ppg since returning to action in the second semester. Douglas has been a mainstay in the lineup (23 games played) and has averaged 10.9 points per game while collecting 5.6 rebounds per game.
The quarterfinal contest for Fisher is scheduled for a 5:00pm CST tip-off inside the Coffin Sports Complex on the campus of Haskell Indian Nations on Friday evening.
