Men’s Soccer Continues Win Streak in Second Overtime Win

Randolph Center, Vt. – The Fisher College men's soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season after earning their second victory in overtime against Vermont Technical College (VTC).  The Falcons came back and defeated the Knights by a score of 4-3.

 

VTC opened the gates and scored in the 5th minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead over the Falcons.  Five minutes later, the Knights earned a corner kick which in turn led to a goal in the 10th minute of the game to take a 2-0 lead.   

 

In the 29th minute, Tyler Gahara netted a penalty kick to cut the Knights' lead to 2-1.  Vermont Tech continued to pressure the Falcons' defense as well as their goalie and quickly took a 3-1 lead over the Falcons. 

 

Neither team could put any more points on the board before time expired in the first half with VTC leading 3-1.

 

Fisher came out of the break ready with Robert Milne scoring one minute and 28 seconds into the second half to cut the Knights' lead to 3-2.  Minutes later, Gahara pushed one past the goalie to tie the game at 3-3 with 40 minutes left to play. 

 

Both VTC and Fisher battled hard for the last 40 minutes, but neither team was able to net a goal to earn the victory, forcing overtime.

 

Less than two minutes into overtime, Jordan Markovich passed to Gahara who sent a laser to the back of the net to score the game winning goal.  The Falcons ended the game in the 91st minute with a 4-3 victory over the Knights.

 

Fisher College will have a week of rest before traveling to the University of Maine at Fort Kent and the University of Maine at Presque Isle on September 17 and 18 respectively.  Game time for both days is 2:00 p.m.
