Markovich’s Late Goals Not Enough

Markovich’s Late Goals Not Enough

Machias, Maine – Senior midfielder Jordan Markovich added two late Fisher College goals in their match against the University of Maine at Machias, but it wasn't enough to help out the Falcons on Monday afternoon.  The Falcons now have lost two in a row to drop to 5-7 on the season after starting over .500.

The Falcons dominated in the game taking a total of 21 shots of which five were from Markovich, but the team could not slip a shot by the Clippers goalie for a point.  In just the first half, the Falcons outshot the host 10-to-3.

Machias added another goal just 3-minutes into the second half, but Markovich answered that goal 6-minutes later to put the Falcons on the board.  Seconds later, the Clippers offense shot another laser into the back of the goal to take a 4-1 lead over the Falcons.

Markovich didn't let that stop him and his team as they tallied another goal off of a penalty kick in the 67th minute to decrease the Machias lead to 4-2.  With just 23 minutes left, the Falcons needed to light the ignition if they wanted to take control of the game, but they ran out of gas and couldn't come from behind for the win.

Guerson Saintil took the loss in net for the Falcons making 4 saves, but allowed 4 goals for Machias.  The Falcons took a total of 21 shots in the game, but were only able to net 2 goals in the loss Monday night.

The Falcons will return to action on Sunday, October 16 at 3:00 p.m. when they play host to the University of Maine at Presque Isle at Hormel Stadium in Medford, Mass.
