M Volleyball: Falcons come up short in tri-match

NEW LONDON, N.H.  – The Fisher College Men's Volleyball team dropped two matches against Emmanuel College and the hosting Colby-Sawyer College. With the pair of losses, the Falcons fall to 0-4 overall. Emmanuel rises to 7-5 while Colby-Sawyer jumps to 2-5.

Game One: Emmanuel 3, Fisher College 0 (Final)

The Falcons dropped the opener of the double-header to the Saints by set scores of 25-14, 25-7, and 25-7.

Senior Rafael Fabra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) paced the offensive attack for the Falcons having 2 kills. Freshman Carlos Diaz (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) dished out 2 assists and collected 4 digs while sophomores Carlos Egipcaoco (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and Eduardo Navarro (Tuscun, Ariz.) each had 3 digs in the loss.

NVU-Johnson offensive effort was led by sophomore Jyles Amirault (Andover, Mass.) and freshman Trey Guest (Newington, CT) each having 6 kills. Sophomore Maximillian Olsen (Barnstable, Mass.) and freshman Michael Shelley (San Francisco, Calif.) followed, adding 5 kills a piece. Freshman Dominic Deferrari (Miami, FL) also chipped in with 14 assists in the win for the Saints.

Game Two: Colby-Sawyer 3, Fisher College 0 (Final)

Fisher fell short while Colby-Sawyer was also able to take the three-set match by scores of 25-21, 25-13, and 25-12.

Fabra, Egipcaoco, and sophomore Ethan Marshall (Melbourne, Australia) led the offense, having 2 kills a piece. Egipcaoco led the team in digs, collecting 6 while Marshall had a solo block. Navarro dished out 4 assists while grabbing 2 digs. Junior Javier Garcia (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) chipped in with a service ace point and 4 digs for the Falcons.

Colby-Sawyer was paced by sophomore Isaac Davies (Hinesburg, VT) with 22 kills and 10 digs. First-year Maverick Thivierge (Concord, NH) followed with 8 kills while junior Austin Ponsness (Queen Creek, Ariz.) added 5 kills and 6 digs. Senior Phu Ngo (Everett, Mass.) contributed 4 kills and 4 assists. First-year setter CJ Murphy (Sudbury, Mass.) chipped in with 31 assists and 4 digs in the win.

Fisher will be traveling back to Northern Vermont University-Johnson to grab a pair of wins on Saturday with a 1pm start. Emmanuel and Colby-Sawyer will have a tri-match in Boston starting at 10am with Lassell as well.
