M Volleyball: Falcons suffer setbacks at NVU-Johnson

JOHNSON, VT. – The Fisher College Men's Volleyball team dropped two matches against Northern Vermont University-Johnson in Carter Gymnasium. With the pair of losses, the Falcons fall to 0-6 overall. Northern Vermont rises to 5-1.

Game One: Northern Vermont University-Johnson 3, Fisher College 0 (Final)

The Falcons dropped the opener of the double-header to the Badgers by set scores of 25-5, 25-8, and 25-10.

Senior Rafael Fabra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) paced the offensive attack for the Falcons having 2 kills. Sophomore Eduardo Navarro (Tuscun, Ariz.) dished out 1 assist and collected 4 digs while freshman Jeremy Blau (Hudson, NH) also had 4 digs. Sophomore Drake Hampton (Queen Creek, Ariz.) added 3 digs in the loss.

NVU-Johnson offensive effort was led by Xee Anderson (Sisters, OR) with 6 kills and 10 assists while adding 5 service ace points and freshman Bar Sustser (Houston, TX) having 5 kills and 7 service ace points. Senior Dominic Phelps (Lyndon, VT) had 4 kills and collected 7 digs. Junior Eli Harden (Artesia, NM) dished out 7 assists and grabbed 6 digs in the win for the Badgers.

Game Two: Northern Vermont University-Johnson 3, Fisher College 0 (Final)

Fisher fell short while Northern Vermont was able to take the second three-set match by scores of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-12.

Fabra as well as junior Javier Garcia (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) led the offense, having 2 kills a piece. Fabra also collected 3 digs. Freshman Carlos Diaz (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) dished out 4 assists and grabbed 6 digs for Fisher. Sophomore Eduardo (Tuscon, Ariz.) chipped in with a kill, 2 assists, and 2 digs for the Falcons.

Anderson led the Badger once again with 10 kills and 7 assists. Phelps followed with 5 kills while Harden and freshman Sam Munson (Georgia, VT) each added 3 kills a piece. Harden also had 13 assists and 6 digs. Freshman Luke Walters (Richmond, VT) had 4 service ace points and 8 digs in the win for NVU-Lyndon.

Both teams will be back in action when they return to the court this week. Fisher will be traveling across the Boston Commons to Emerson on Tuesday with a 7pm start. NVU-Lyndon will also be on the road to face Colby-Sawyer for a double header on Saturday starting at 1pm.
