Brown, Pillard Power Lady Falcons Past Gators

Lynn, MA – The Fisher College Lady Falcons blasted nine home runs en route to a doubleheader sweep of crosstown rival Pine Manor College Saturday afternoon in Lynn, MA.  The lady Falcons were victorious in game one, 18-1, and finished off the impressive sweep with a 20-8 victory in game two.

Jayla Vega (Hoboken, NJ) picked up victories in both contest. In game one Vega went all five innings, allowing just one run, a solo homerun, and three hits. Vega recorded three strikeouts while surrounding just 1 walk.  Vega, a sophomore, helped her own cause at the plate, going 3-for-4.  Vega belted her first home run of the season while driving in three runs and scoring three of her own.

Offensively, The Lady Falcons had a record setting day. Vega, Jade Bracero (Hoboken, NJ), Christine Briggs (Rumford, ME), Kristina Brown (Dixon, CA) and Cassandra Pillard (Jefferson, NH) each had a home run for Fisher.

Brown, Morgan Selmi (Rohnert, CA), Briggs, and Vega each had three runs batted in in the day's first game.

In game two, Vega pitched two scoreless innings in relief of freshman Victoria Park (Lynn, MA).  Vega allowed no hits over the two innings while striking out two.  Park went three full innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits.  She walked five while striking out four.

The offensive explosion continued in game two, with Fisher scoring 20 runs in a game for the 2nd time this season. Kristina Brown hit two more home runs in game two, going 4-for-4 with 5 RBIs. Brown, a freshman, currently leads the NAIA with a .653 batting average.

Selmi and Pillard both went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs in the night cap.  Vega also added three hits.

The Lady Falcons return to action Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Daniel Webster for a 3:30pm doubleheader.
