Lady Falcons Soar Past Daniel Webster Eagles

Boston, MA – The Lady Falcons of Fisher College extended their winning streak to four with a doubleheader sweep of Daniel Webster College Tuesday night in Nashua, NH. Fisher won game one, 6-5, before capping off the day with a 13-5 win.

The Lady Falcons earned a come-from-behind victory in game one to give sophomore pitcher Jayla Vega (Hoboken, NJ) her sixth win of the season. Fisher trailed 5-2 heading into the sixth inning before scoring four unanswered runs en route to their eighth win.

Kristina Brown (Dixon, CA), Morgan Selmi (Rohnerts Park, CA), and Christine Briggs (Rumford, ME) all had multiple hit efforts. Briggs went 3 for 4 in game one while Brown and Selmi each went 2 for 4. Brown had a team-high two runs scored for the Falcons.

Vega pitched all seven innings for Fisher, allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks. The right-hander recorded a season-high eight strikeouts in the victory.

The late inning offensive rolled right into the second game for the Falcons, as they hit double-digit runs for the eighth time this season.

Brown belted her eighth home run of the year in the nightcap, while Jordan Smith (Bethel, CT) had a three-run triple to pace the Fisher offense. Brown went 2 for 4 with four runs scored and three RBIs, while Smith went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Smith earned her third win of the season after going all seven innings. The left-hander allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks. She managed three strikeouts after facing 31 batters.

The Lady Falcons return to action Wednesday evening when they host Thomas College for an NAIA-NCAA crossover doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm at Breed Field in Lynn, MA.
