KISSIMMEE, FLA. – It was Day Three of competition for the Fisher College Softball team down in Central Florida at THE Spring Games today. The Falcons battled hard against Carlow University in an 8-1 loss before falling to Concordia University (Neb.), 23-2.

Game One: Carlow University 8, Fisher College 1 (Final)

Trailing 2-0 entering the fourth inning, the Falcons rallied to cut the deficit in half. Freshman Haley Tilberry (Moosic, Pa.) reached on an error and immediately stole second to get into scoring position. Sophomore Kiarra Pouncy (Enterprise, Ala.) then laced a single to left field, which allowed Tilberry to scamper home and make it a 2-1 ballgame. However, that would be as close as they would get as the Celtics scored six runs over the final two innings to seal the win.

Fisher managed just three hits in the morning affair. Senior Corrie Edstrom (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished 1-for-4 while classmate Vivian Lara (Norwalk, Calif.) added a 1-for-3 showing and Pouncy ended her morning with a 1-for-2 appearance with a RBI.

The late Celtics rally spoiled a solid start for Edstrom inside the circle. The right-hander allowed eight runs (five earned) on seven hits over her six innings of work.

Carlow saw freshman Amanda Hu (Katy, Texas) earn the win as she spun six innings of three-hit ball, allowing just one run (unearned) while striking out two. Offensively freshman Madison Lampe (Rutan, Pa.) guided the Celtics with a three-run home run to finish 1-for-3 with three RBI. Junior Keyara Morgan (Claysburg, Pa.) and freshman Morgan Needly (Harrison City, Pa.) each came off the bench with base hits and Gallagher finished 1-for-2 in the win.

Game Two: Concordia University (Neb.) 23, Fisher College 2 (Final/5 inn.)

Edstrom was perfect at the plate in the second game of the day as the Falcons fell to a strong Concordia University team, 23-2.

Edstrom finished the contest going 3-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Tilberry recorded the other hit for Fisher as she went 1-for-3 and freshman Katherine Rodriguez (Fajardo, P.R.) scored a run in the loss. Tilberry was given the loss inside the circle as she surrendered ten runs (seven earned) while recording one out, a strikeout. Edstrom then finished the game with 4.2 innings pitched, allowing 13 runs (eight earned) on 16 hits and striking out one.

Concordia saw senior Dalaney Nance (Gilbert, Ariz.) strike out five over three innings to earn the win while freshman Ashley Evans (Westminster, Colo.) finished the ballgame with two innings of one-hit ball, surrendering one run (earned) and striking out one. Offensively, junior Hhana Haro (Garden Grove, Calif.) smashed a three-run home run in her only plate appearance and freshman Creighton Taylor (Gretna, Neb.) finished 3-for-5 with four RBI in the win. Classmate Shelby Ziegler (Waco, Neb.) also added a 4-for-5, three runs scored and two RBI night for the Bulldogs.

Fisher is now 0-6 to begin the young season. They will wrap up their trip to the Sunshine State tomorrow with a pair of contests against Lourdes University (Ohio) and William Penn University.
