GWINNETT, GA. – The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) has announced its post-season softball honors, with the announcement Friday, April 3, of the All-Conference and Champions of Character teams for the 2020 spring season.

The 2020 A.I.I. softball championship tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 public health crisis. League officials felt that the accomplishments of its student-athletes should still be recognized.

The A.I.I. did not select special awards such as player of the year, pitcher of the year and coach of the year. There were no first, second or honorable mention team designations. All student-athletes were to be named to one All-Conference team.

Georgia Gwinnett College (12-9), ranked #10 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, had the most all-conference honorees with seven, followed by Cottery College (Mo.), Crowley's Ridge College (Ark.) and Edward Waters College (Fla.) with five honorees, and Washington Adventist University (Md.) with four selections.

Fisher College saw freshman Haley Tilberry (Moosic, Pa.) earn All-Conference honors after a hot start to her career. The rookie infielder played and started all eight games for the Falcons this season and led the team in multiple offensive categories, including batting average, home runs and runs batted in. Tilberry batted .350 on the season with seven hits, including a home run, and knocked in three RBI. She also led the team with two runs scored, four stolen bases and tied for the team high of one double. Tilberry also struck out just once over her 20 plate appearances in 2020.

Senor Corrie Edstrom (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was chosen to represent the Falcons on the 2020 A.I.I. Champions of Character team. Edstrom had a solid start to her final campaign in the Fisher Blue and White as she batted .333 (6-for-18) with a double and two RBI over her eight games.
