Falcons drop tough one to Wilberforce University

Diamond Wright had 36 points and Danisha Brown added 30 points as the Wilberforce University Bulldogs knocked off the Fisher Falcons 107-62 in American Mideast Conference action.

Fisher (0-19, 0-6 AMC) couldn't handle the full court pressure the Bulldogs used throughout the game and had a season high 32 turnovers. The Falcons shot 32 percent for the game and couldn't match their visitor's defensive intensity.

Fisher was led by American Mideast Conference leading scorer Javanna Bernard with a career high 30 points.  She also added 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Junior point guard Pamala Bounkhoune contributed 23 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in the losing effort.

The Bulldogs controlled the game early and got most of their points off of turnovers and in the paint.  Wright added 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals to go with here game high 36 points.  Brown also tallied 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.

All five starters for Wilbeforce reached double figures in scoring with Karena Otta notching 15 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.  Guard Angelica Rucker just missed out on a triple-double with 10 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds.

Makenzi Peeler had a solid effort for the Falcons with 7 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out with 3 minutes left in the game.

The Falcons return to action Wednesday, January 18th when they host former Sunrise Conference rival SUNY-Canton.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm.
