It was a tale of two half for the Lady Falcons tonight as they drop a non-conference matchup with visiting Vermont Tech College at Fectau-Leary Gym in Lynn, MA.
The Lady Falcons let a 41-29 half time lead slip away in the 2nd half on their way to a 72-63 loss. The comeback was evident when the Falcons managed just 18.9% (7-37) shooting in the 2nd half, down from 37.8% (14-37) in the 1st half. On the other hand, the Knights of Vermont Tech were able to fix their first half woes, improving their shooting from 26.2% (11-42) to 40% (16-40).
The Lady Falcons were paced by Porsha Grayson's 26 points and 12 rebounds. It was a career high for Grayson, playing her 1st season with the Lady Falcons. Grayson and sophomore Javanna Bernard's 21 points made up 76% percent of Fisher's scoring.
The Lady Knights were led by Kelly Vellek's impressive night. The 5'7" forward scored 33 points while collecting 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Vermont Tech also received strong contributions from Ama Baker, 22 points 8 rebounds, and Paige Wells' 8 points and 22 rebounds.
The Lady Falcons have a quick turnaround as they look for their first win of the season. Fisher travels to NCAA II's Merrimack College Thursday November 8th. The Falcons are schedule to tip-off at Volpe Arena against their Northeast-10 opponents at 7pm.
