Lady Falcons Down Vermont Tech, Motroni Earns 1st Career Victory

Lynn, MA – The Fisher College Lady Falcons jumped out to a 42-17 half time lead and eased to a 86-61 victory over the Vermont Tech College Lady Knights Wednesday evening at Fectau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, Massachusetts.

The season opening victory was a historic one for the Lady Falcons as 2nd year Head Coach Josh Motroni earned his 1st victory at the helm of the women's basketball program. The Lady Falcons finished the 2012-2013 season with a 0-25 record.

The Lady Falcons were paced by seniors Porsha Grayson (Merced, CA) and Javana Bernard (Waterbury, CT).  Grayson had a game high 22 points and a team high 11 rebounds while Bernard added 17 points and 10 steals.

Freshman Alexis Akridge (Union, NJ) began her collegiate career with an impressive 18 points on 9-15 shooting.  The former Union High School standout also contributed four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Fisher got scoring from nine different Falcons leading to a school record 86 points.  The blowout victory snapped at 56 game skid for the Lady Falcons, their last winning coming on February 16th, 2011.

Fisher outshot Vermont Tech 42.9% to 38.1% while forcing the Lady Knights into 37 turnovers after only surrounding 16 of their own.

The Lady Falcons return to action Saturday November 9th at 7:00 pm when they travel to Tacoma Park, Maryland to square off against Washington Adventist University.
