Women’s Basketball Fall to Lions 87-48

Boston, MA – Fisher College's women's basketball team (0-3) fell to Emerson College (2-1) with a score of 87-48.

The Lions held the visiting Falcon squad to just six first-half baskets en route to a 45-18 lead after the first 20 minutes of play. Emerson started the game on a 19-8 run, and the Falcons didn't hit double digits until Shakieya Roland-Drake (Boston, MA) hit two free throws with 4:49 left in the first stanza.

The Falcons were led by Murphy Carroll (Methuen, MA) and Alexis Akridge (Union, NJ), both scoring eight points. Maya Savino led the Lions with 11 points, the only playing in the game to score double digits in the first half.

Fisher tried to cut down the lead when Christine Briggs (Rumford, ME) made two jump shots to bring the score to 49-22. Murphy Carroll continued to lead the Falcons in shooting while the Lions tacked on the points. 

Murphy Carroll earned a double-double, scoring 23 points and racking 10 boards. Akridge was the only other Falcon to score double digits with 15, while Briggs and Roland-Drake scored four apiece and Madison Carroll scored two.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon in the first game of a double header against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 12:00 pm at the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, MA.
