
Rebecca Campbell had a career-high 24 points to lead Presque Isle over visiting Fisher College 74-60 on Sunday afternoon.
The Owl faithful celebrated the hard work and dedication of Campbell, Brigitte Prattand Krista Coffin and watched the three seniors play their last home basketball game on UMPI's Senior Day. The victory was a strong effort from the entire Owl squad, as they shot 46% from the field, had 17 assists and committed only 11 turnovers.
After a slow start, the Owls built a 39-23 lead with seconds left on the clock in the first half. That Owl advantage took a hit when Christine Briggs launched an 35 footer at the buzzer that swished through the net as time expired. The Owl lead dropped to 13 and Fisher had momentum going into the lockerroom
Fisher cut the Owl lead to single digits several times in the second half, the last being with 12:44 left in the game. That stretch included a 6-0 Falcon run to make the score 49-42, with all of the scoring coming from twin sisters Murphy and Madison Carroll.
The Owls were not to be denied on their senior day however, as they hit 4 three pointers in the last 6 minutes and added several other quality shots on their way to the Owls 8th win on the season.
Sydney Churchill had 18 points and 4 assists, on 4 of 5 shooting from beyond the arc. Freshman Brianna Loseeplayed her most sound game of the year, scoring 15 points and point guard Darby Toth had 13 points and 7 assists. Campbell grabbed 11 rebounds, securing her 17th double-double on the season.
Alexis Akridge led the game Fisher squad with 20 points. Murphy Carroll added 16 points and 8 rebounds and Madison Carroll added 10 points and 6 assists.
