BABSON PARK, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team dropped their season-opener this afternoon to Babson College, 88-42. The game was played in an empty Staake Gymnasium as the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the country.

The Beavers, also playing in their first contest of the season, raced out to a hot start as they controlled the pace of the game from the onset. The Falcons would compete and battle hard throughout the 40-minute contest showing life late with spirited play in the second half.

Junior Misha O'Neal (Tampa, Fla.) led the Falcons with 15 points and a game-high four steals. Freshman Angela Steingrimsdottir (Grindavik, Iceland) scored nine points and junior Alexia Mason (Los Angeles, Calif.) added eight points in their Fisher College debuts. O'Neal shot 7-of-14 from the floor in a reserve effort to pace the offensive attack and Mason pulled down seven rebounds in the loss.

Babson was paced by the 20-point afternoon from freshman Kelly Walsh (Goffstown, N.H.). Walsh was 7-for-9 from the field and also finished with seven rebounds and three assists. Four other Beavers reached the double-digit plateau with classmate Madison Odam (San Jose, Calif.) contributing 17 points in a reserve effort.

These two teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1pm to close out the two-game series. Live stats and video can be found at www.FisherFalcons.com.
