Women's Basketball: Hazard, Falcons top NVU-Johnson

JOHNSON, VT. – After a three week break between games, the Fisher College Women's Basketball team soared to victory this evening at Northern Vermont University-Johnson with a 60-47 triumph over the Badgers. The win moves the Falcons to 1-2 on the season while NVU-Johnson drops to 0-2.

Junior Misha O'Neal (Tampa, Fla.) was electric all night for Fisher as the 5-7 guard shot 10-for-27 from the floor, including 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, on her way to a game-high 27 points. Five other Falcons recorded points in the contest with junior Shaniah Hazard (Providence, R.I.) totaled eight points and eight rebounds. Classmate Katie Salas (Placentia, Calif.) finished the night with a team-high nine rebounds to go along with her six points and fellow junior Alexia Mason (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished with seven points and a team-high of three assists. Senior Jennifer Rosales (Morgan Hills, Calif.) came off the bench and added six points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field while junior Celine Altamirano (Boyle Heights, Calif.) chipped in with six points of her own in a reserve effort.

NVU-Johnson was led by the double-double night of senior Ellery Kiefer (Wayland, Mass.), who finished with 18 points while going 10-for-14 from the charity stripe and collecting the game high of 12 rebounds. Senior Jocelyn Pellerin (Keene, N.H.) added 13 points off the bench for the Badgers and freshman Gabriella Wardwell (Springfield, Vt.) ended the night with nine points and seven rebounds. Junior Alexandra Barry (Hopewell Jct., N.Y.) also had a good night along the glass as she collected eight rebounds in the loss.

The Falcons will return to action on Tuesday evening as they travel down to New Haven, Connecticut for a 6pm tip at Albertus Magnus College. Live stats and video will be provided. NVU-Johnson will host the State University of New York – Canton in their next scheduled contest on Friday, February 26 with a 5pm game time.
