Women's Basketball: Mares, Falcons fly past Dean College

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team used a 25-point fourth quarter as they picked up a victory this afternoon over visiting Dean College inside the Pappas Gymnasium. With the win, the Falcons even out their record at 2-2 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 1-2.

Senior Misha O'Neal (Tampa, Fla.) once again paced the offensive effort as she notched the game-high 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor. Classmate Naomi Mares (Pueblo, Colo.) knocked down a pair of three-point attempts on her way to 12 points with fellow senior Alexia Mason (Inglewood, Calif.) recording 11 points. Junior Tatiana Bruno (Ridgefield Park, N.J.), making her season debut, finished with 10 points and three assists in the win. Junior Madison Kelley (Moosup, Conn.) pulled down the team-high of nine rebounds as she ended her afternoon with six points scored. Senior Shaniah Hazard (East Providence, R.I.) and freshman Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabela, Puerto Rico) added four and five points, respectively, in a reserve effort for the Falcons while freshman Nayleemar Montalvo (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) collected three rebounds off the bench.

Dean was paced by the double-double effort from junior Alexah Potter (East Hartford, Conn.). The 6-foot forward finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, the game-high. Senior Shania Springer (Bayshore, N.Y.) registered 10 points with seven rebounds and Catherine Thomas contributed six points in the setback. Freshman Janai Price (Providence, R.I.) and senior AJ Sidbury (Wilmington, N.C.), each finished with four points however the combined for 19 rebounds as Price pulled down 11 and Sidbury ended her afternoon with eight.

Fisher will return to action next Friday night as they travel down to New London, Connecticut for a 7pm contest at Coast Guard Academy. Dean will remain on the road in their next scheduled contest as the take on Mount Holyoke College on Wednesday evening.
