Women's Basketball: Falcons pick up first win of the season over Vermont Tech

JOHNSON, VT. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball captured their first win under first-year Head Coach Natalie Wilson this afternoon as the defeated former Sunrise Conference foe Vermont Technical College, 81-20 in the Northern Vermont University Tip-Off Classic consolation game, hosted by NVU-Johnson. The win evens out the Falcons overall record at 1-1 while the Knights fall to 0-2 on the young season.

Senior Misha O'Neal (Tampa, Fla.) was the star of the afternoon as she finished two rebounds shy of a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds. The veteran shot 11-for-18 from the floor while also collecting nine steals. Classmate Alexia Mason (Inglewood, Calif.) followed up yesterday's performance with 17 points and six steals with fellow senior Naomi Mares (Pueblo, Colo.) adding 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor.

Freshman Nayleemar Montalvo (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) finished her afternoon with 11 points off the bench as classmate Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabela, Puerto Rico) contributed six points and six rebounds in a reserve effort for the Falcons. Juniors Madison Kelley (Moosup, Conn.) and Kiana Wilkerson (Everett, Mass.) also recorded points, seven and four respectively, as every member of the team made baskets in the contest.

Vermont Tech saw freshman Tay Finnickin (Tampa, Fla.) score the team-high of 10 points with classmate Molly Bruso (North Clarendon, Vt.) adding in seven points. Senior Hannah Sheehe (Clarendon, Vt.) accounted for the other three points scored in the loss.

Fisher will remain on the road for their next scheduled contest on Tuesday evening. The Falcons will travel to Nashua, New Hampshire for a 7pm contest at Rivier University.
