Women's Basketball: Falcons hang on for 76-74 win over Mitchell

BROOKLINE, MASS. – Finally returning to action in the second semester, the Fisher College Women's Basketball team earned a 76-74 victory over visiting Mitchell College this evening inside the Pappas Gymnasium at Hellenic College. The win lifts the Falcons to 4-10 overall on the season while the loss drops the Mariners to 7-8.

Senior Misha O'Neal (Tampa, Fla.) powered the Falcon offense to an overall shooting percentage of 45.3% from the floor. The veteran guard led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting while collecting four rebounds and dishing out three assists. Classmate Alexia Mason (Inglewood, Calif.) added 17 points as she was 7-for-14 from the floor, and junior Tatiana Bruno (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) chipped in with 15 points. Mason led the team with eight rebounds in the win.

Mitchell senior Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) matched O'Neal with 23 points scored with the 6-foot forward knocking down 11-of-19 shots on the floor. Wiley also scooped up a game-high 14 rebounds for the games only double-double. Junior Dede Stevenson (Hartford, Conn.) contributed 13 points for the Mariners while classmate Sam McKenna (Millbrook, N.Y.) provided 12 points of her own in the setback.

Fisher will have a short turnaround time as they prepare for a Continental Athletic Conference showdown with Washington Adventist University. Game time is set for 6pm on Saturday night at home. Mitchell, meanwhile, will have almost a week worth of rest as they travel back up to the Boston area for a conference date with Lesley University on Wednesday, January 26.
