Women's Basketball: Falcons open up 2022-23 season with a setback

BROOKLINE, MASS. - The Fisher College Women's Basketball team dropped a contest this evening to the visiting Rivier University, 85-52 inside the Pappas Gymnasium. The loss starts the Falcons season 0-1. Rivier rises to 1-0.

Junior Ladeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) and senior Madison Kelley (Moosup, CT) led the offensive effort for the Falcons as they each totaled 15 points in their 40 minutes of play. Kelley also led the team in rebounds pulling down 15 defensive and 1 offensive. Jada Braggs (Craig, Colo.) added 8 points for Fisher while senior Naomi Mares (Pueblo, Colo.) and sophomore Nayleemar Montalvo (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) each chipped in with 7 points in the loss.

Rivier was paced by junior Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, N.H.) with 19 points and junior Hannah Muchemore (Nashua, N.H.) provided help with 18 points. Sophomore Rachel Guinn (Clinton, Mass.) added 15 points. Junior Bae Stafford (Saunderstown, R.I.) also chipped in with 11 points and 7 rebounds in the win for the Raiders.

Both teams will be back in action when they return to the court later on this week. Fisher will be traveling to Lyndonville, Vt. for a tip-off tournament starting Friday. They will be playing Northern Vermont University - Johnson for the first game starting at 5:30pm. Rivier will be hosting Nichols College on Thursday with a 7pm start.
