Women's Basketball: Steingrimsdottir, Falcons fall to Haskell

BROOKLINE, MASS. - The Fisher College Women's Basketball team dropped a Continental Athletic Conference contest this afternoon to the visiting Haskell Indian Nation University, 69-32 inside Pappas Gymnasium. The loss sends the Falcons to 1-14 for an overall record. Haskell Indian Nation slides to 9-12.

Senior Naomi Mares (Pueblo, Colo.) led the offensive effort for the Falcons as she totaled 14 points over her 40 minutes of play. Senior Madison Kelley (Moosup, CT) followed with 7 points. Kelley also led the team in rebounds, having 12 and had 4 blocks. Sophomore Nayleemar Montalvo (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) also chipped in with 6 points while junior Angela Steingrimsdottir (Grindavick, Iceland) added 5 points and 2 steals in the loss for Fisher.

Haskell was paced by junior Miracle Spotted Bear (Pine Ridge, SD) with 25 points and classmate Marilyn Goodman (Marland, OK) provided help with 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Marty also dished out 6 assists. Junior Jaelyn Two Hearts (Fort Totten, ND) also chipped in with 9 points in the win for the FIghting Indians.

Both teams will be back in action when they return to the court this week. Fisher will host Washington Adventist University tomorrow to end the 3-day tournament with a noon start time. Haskell will be traveling to Baptist Bible College to play on Tuesday with a 5pm tip-off.
