Women's Basketball: Montalvo, Falcons suffer setback against WAU

BROOKLINE, MASS. - The Fisher College Women's Basketball team dropped a Continental Athletic Conference contest this afternoon to the visiting Washington Adventist University, 109-38 inside Pappas Gymnasium. The loss sends the Falcons to 1-15 for an overall record. Washington Adventist slides to 11-4.

Senior Naomi Mares (Pueblo, Colo.) led the offensive effort for the Falcons as she totaled 16 points over her 40 minutes of play. Sophomore Nayleemar Montalvo (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) followed with 9 points. Senior Madison Kelley (Moosup, CT) led the team in rebounds with 7 and added 6 points and 2 blocks. Junior Angela Steingrimsdottir (Grindavick, Iceland) added 4 points in the loss for Fisher.

Washington Adventist was paced by senior Amber Morman (Cleveland, TN) with 22 points and junior Shelby Ricks (Lakeland, FL) provided help with 20 points. Mormon also led the team in rebounds with 17 Marty also dished out 6 assists. Senior Brianna Jones (Upper Marlboro, Maryland), junior Nyelle Allen (Colombia, Maryland) and sophomore Sole Carroll also chipped in with 14 points a piece in the win for the FIghting Indians.

Both teams will be back in action when they return to the court this week. Fisher will host the University of Maine-Fort Kent on Saturday with a 5pm start. Washington Adventist will be hosting Central Penn College on Wednesday with a 7pm tip-off.
