Women's Basketball: Hamel, Falcons fall at home to Wellesley

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team dropped the 2023-24 home opener this evening, 72-34 to visiting Wellesley College on the floor inside the Papas Gymnasium. The loss sends the Falcons to 0-8 on the season while the Blue improved to 2-3.

Junior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) led the Fisher offensive effort in a reserve role as she came off the bench and totaled 13 points. The lengthy forward was 6-for-21 from the floor while also pulling down 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. Classmate Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabelle, Puerto Rico) added nine points and senior Ladaeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) finished with eight points in defeat.

The Blue were powered by first-year Trinity Barrow (Evans, Ga.), who recorded the game-high of 18 points. The Georgia native also collected the team-high of nine rebounds. In total, four student-athletes finished in double-figures. Joining Barrow was senior Jiyun Chae (Chantilly, Va.), who had 15 points, and sophomores Arla Hofer (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Yitzel Serna (Palmdale, Calif.) added 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Both teams will enjoy the long Thanksgiving weekend off as they are slated to return to action next Wednesday evening. The Falcons will travel to Anna Maria College for a 7pm contest while Wellesley hosts Elms College with a 7pm tip-off.
