Women's Basketball: Falcons tripped up at UMF Classic

FARMINGTON, MAINE – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team made their annual trip to the UMF Classic this afternoon as they fell in the tournament opener, 67-24 to the University of Maine-Presque Isle. The loss sends the Falcons to an overall record of 0-6 while the Owls increase their record to 1-1.

Senior Ladaeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) led the way offensively for Fisher. The veteran guard recorded a team-high seven points in the contest. Junior Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabella, Puerto Rico) collected nine rebounds and added four points while freshman Aziriah Wilson (Uniontown, Pa.) chipped in with six points and five rebounds in a reserve effort for the Falcons.

UMPI was paced by junior Kourtney West (Limestone, Maine), who had the game-high of 14 points on six-of-nine shooting from the floor. Senior Alexis Ireland (Howland, Maine) finished with a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) and freshman Lindsay Hamilton (Benton, Maine) reached double-digits in scoring with a 10-point outing.

Both teams will return to the floor tomorrow in day two of the UMF Classic. Fisher will battle the hosts, University of Maine-Farmington while UMPI will take on Nichols College.
