Women's Basketball: Falcons dropped in VSU Invitational

JOHNSON, VT. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team closed out the Vermont State Invitational this afternoon with a 50-34 setback to VSU-Randolph in the tournament's consolation game. The loss moves the Falcons to 0-5 on the season while the Knights up their record to 2-1.

Junior Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabella, Puerto Rico) led the way for the Falcons as she netted a team-high 14 points and corralled six rebounds. Classmate Nayleemar Montalvo (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) added nine points and eight rebounds while fellow junior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) recorded the team high with nine rebounds.

VSU-Randolph saw first-year Yvonne Roberge (Worcester, Vt.) shoot 10-for-19 from the floor on her way to the game-high of 24 points. Junior Arna Amundadottir (Borgarnes, Western, Iceland) registered a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while classmate Molly Bruso (North Clarendon, Vt.) contributed eight points in the win.

Fisher will enjoy a week of rest as they get ready to compete in the University of Maine-Farmington (UMF) Classic on Friday afternoon. They will take on the University of Maine-Presque Isle on day one before battling the host, UMF on Saturday afternoon.
