Women's Basketball: Falcons suffer setback at Norwich

NORTHFIELD, VT. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team dropped the opener in the 2023 Ed Hockenbury Classic this evening as tournament host Norwich University earned the 85-31 win. The loss sends the Falcons to an 0-10 record this season while the Cadets improve to 4-2 overall.

Junior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) scored nine points and collected 10 rebounds in the contest to lead the Falcons. Senior Ladaeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) added eight points while junior Nayleemar Montalvo (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico) chipped in with seven points in the setback. Senior J. Braggs (Craig, Colo.) provided additional help with five points, three rebounds and three assists for Fisher.

Norwich was powered by the 31-point effort from junior Hayley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.). The veteran guard was 12-for-22 from the floor and dished out five assists while scooping up seven rebounds. Classmate Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) also shined bright as she added 21 points and senior Silas Bernier (Jaffrey, N.H.) finished with 11 points in the Cadets victory.

Fisher will take on Hamilton College tomorrow at 1pm in the final day of the Ed Hockenbury Classic. Norwich will entertain the University of Maine – Fort Kent following the conclusion of the Falcons contest.
