Women's Basketball: Hamel's triple-double leads Falcons to victory

FRANKLIN, MASS. – Powered by her first career triple-double, junior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) led the Fisher College Women's Basketball team to their first victory of the season this evening as they defeated Dean College, 61-48. The win moves the Falcons to an overall record of 1-11 while the Bulldogs fall to 1-7 with the loss.

Hamel was outstanding on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she led the team with 24 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor. The 6-0 forward also collected 19 rebounds, including 12 on the defensive end, and added 10 blocks for the triple-double. Junior Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabella, Puerto Rico) scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds to help buoy the offensive effort. Senior Ladaeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) finished in double-figures as she totaled 13 points with junior Kamani Paynter (Atlanta, Ga.) chipping in with five points off the bench.

Dean saw three student-athletes reach double-digits in points scored, led by a pair of 13-point efforts. Sophomore Carly Rettberg (Haddam, Conn.) and first-year Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) each finished with 13 points on the night. Senior Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) added 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Fisher will travel to northern Maine this weekend as they get set to take on the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon at 3pm. Dean will also be on the road this Saturday as they travel to Albertus Magnus College for a 1pm conference clash.
