Women's Basketball: Falcons downed at UMPI

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team fell to the University of Maine Presque Isle in a tough battle, with the final score 74-26 in favor of the Owls. The loss drops the Falcons to 0-2, while UMPI improves to 1-5 on the season.

Senior Kamani Paynter (Atlanta, Ga.) led the offensive effort for the Falcons, scoring 10 points and adding 7 rebounds. Senior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) was active on both ends of the floor, grabbing 9 rebounds and blocking 2 shots while contributing 6 points. Sophomore Tyler Wilkinson (Boston, Mass.) was also able to get on the boards chipping in 5 points as well as 5 rebounds.

For UMPI, senior Alexis Ireland (Howland, Maine) was the standout performer, scoring 23 points and grabbing a game-high 17 rebounds. Senior Anaira Ayala (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) also made an impact, contributing 16 points in the Owls' victory.

Fisher will return to action on December 8th, when they travel to the University of Maine Fort Kent for a 2 p.m. tip-off. UMPI will next take on Husson University on December 13th at 5:30 p.m.
