TEMPLE TERRACE, FLA. – The Fisher College Women's Basketball team was overpowered by Florida National University, falling 101-32 in a tough contest. With the loss, Fisher's record drops to 0-7, while Florida National improves to 4-7.
Senior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) had a standout performance, leading the Falcons and obtaining a double double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabela, Puerto Rico) added 10 points and 8 rebounds to the effort for Fisher.
For Florida National, Seniors Kyla Cruz Baez (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Janelisse Marty Marr (San Juan, Puerto Rico) both scored 22 points to lead the team. Senior Charlette Leurs (Brewster, N.Y.) dominated the boards with 16 rebounds, while Marty Marr contributed 10 rebounds and 11 assists for a triple double in the win for the Conquistadors.
Fisher will return to action on Tuesday, January 14, when they face Vermont State Lyndon at 7 p.m. at home in Brookline, Mass. Florida National will next travel to the University of Fort Lauderdale on Friday, January 17, for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
