MEDFORD, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Soccer team dropped the 2023 home opener this afternoon to a tough squad from Emmanuel College, 6-0 under the hot sun at Hormel Stadium. The Falcons are now 0-2 in the young season while the Saints improve to 1-1 overall.

Emmanuel sophomore Maya Daryanani (Raynham, Mass.) got the Saints in the board early in the contest as she netted her first goal of the season. Daryanani collected a pass from the midfield and was able to get around a pair of Falcon defenders before knocking the ball to the back of the net inside the 18'. Minutes later, the Saints tacked on for a 2-0 advantage when sophomore Liz McCormack (Cumberland, R.I.) fired off a shot from the top of the 18 and tucked it just inside the upper left 90 for her first tally of the season.

Emmanuel made it 3-0 later in the first half on a goal from sophomore Sarah Dullaghan (Belmont, Mass.), who redirected a cross from the corner off her head and into the back of the net.

Emmanuel then added three more goals in the final 45 minutes for the 6-0 final. Sophomore Annebel Balogh de Galantha (Grafton, Mass.), senior Adeline LeGault (Farmington, Conn.), and freshman Libby Tennant (West Simsbury, Conn.) were the goal-scorers for the Saints.

Junior goalkeeper Olivia Leo (Dunmore, Pa.) was outstanding between the pipes despite the loss. Leo made 12 saves in the contest, including a diving penalty kick stop early in the second half.

Emmanuel sophomore netminder Gabby Baker (Grafton, Mass.) stopped the only shot she faced, off the foot from Fisher senior Kelly Wallace (Hanover, Mass.), to record the clean sheet for the Saints.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday. The Falcons will travel up to Vermont State University-Lyndon for a 4pm kickoff against the former Sunrise Conference foe, while the Saints will be in conference action at Regis College for a 7:30pm contest.
