Women's Soccer: Wallace nets hat-trick, Falcons top Lyndon 4-0

LYNDONVILLE, VT. – Senior Kelly Wallace (Hanover, Mass.) recorded a hat-trick and the Fisher College Women's Soccer team picked up their first victory of the season this afternoon as the defeated Vermont State-Lyndon, 4-0. The win lifts the Falcons to 1-2-0 on the season while the Hornets fall to 0-2-0.

Wallace got the Falcons on the board midway through the opening half. Fellow senior Ariana Artavia (Dallas, Ga.) connected with Wallace on a long pass through the defense where Wallace was able to collect the ball and rifle it past the Hornet goalkeeper. That made the score 1-0 in favor of Fisher in which the Falcons held on to halftime.

In the second half, Wallace connected on a penalty shot in the 50th minute to make it 2-0. Artavia followed with her second career goal, first of the season, in the 65th off a pass from sophomore Iliana Fernandez (Hesperia, Calif.). The Wallace-Artavia connection rounded out the scoring and the hat-trick in the 74th minute for the 4-0 final.

Freshman Cefeldalina Molina Lara (Lawrence, Mass.) recorded the clean sheet victory in her first career game as she stopped all five shots she faced on net. VSU-Lyndon sophomore Kiara Mack (Winooksi, Vt.) made six saves for the Hornets.

Fisher outshot VSU-Lyndon, 16-10 on the afternoon while the Hornet held the edge in corners at 5-2.

Next up for the Falcons will be an extended break as they prepare to battle Bryant & Stratton College – Albany on Saturday, September 16 in the empire state. Lyndon, meanwhile, will host Lesley University this Saturday afternoon at 12pm.
