TAKOMA PARK, MD. – The Fisher College Women's Soccer team earned a 3-1 victory over Washington Adventist University this afternoon. The win improves the Falcons' record to 3-9-2, while WAU drops to 2-5-0 on the season.
Fisher's offense was led by senior Jenna McCullough (Buffalo Grove, Ill.), who scored the first goal of the game with an unassisted strike. Washington Adventist responded with an own goal, putting the Falcons up by 2.
The Shock's lone goal came from sophomore Katy Jimenez, assisted by freshman Irene Freire and junior Evelyn Chicas at 65:42.
Fisher regained the lead when senior Kayla Dorn (Hampton, Ill.) scored in the 75th minute, with an assist from senior Lea Bjorkhagen (Stockholm, Sweden), securing the win for the Falcons.
Fisher's goalkeeper, senior Olivia Leo (Dunmore, Pa.), made 8 saves in 90 minutes of play. WAU's sophomore goalkeeper Elena Lopez had 10 saves in a full 90 minutes.
Fisher will be back in action for Senior Day on October 26, hosting the University of Maine-Fort Kent at 11:00 am. Washington Adventist will play their final game of the season at Trinity Washington on October 24.
