Women's Volleyball: Falcons blank Dean College, 3-0

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team improved to 5-0 this evening as they topped visiting Dean College, 3-0 in the home opener for the Falcons at the Pappas Gymnasium on the campus of Hellenic College. Fisher was victorious by set scores of 27-25, 25-15, and 25-12.

Junior Macy Barnes (Duart, Calif.) once again led the attack for the Falcons as she recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Senior libero Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico) was the dig leader with 16 on the night while junior Natalia Ortiz (Humacao, Puerto Rico) scooped up 12 digs. Freshman Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) was outstanding in directing the offensive effort as she recorded 30 assists, her third consecutive game with 30+ assists. Junior Aya Al-Juraishi (Walnut, Calif.) added eight kills in the victory with freshman Lilliana Figueroa (Fajardo, Puerto Rico) tallying seven kills. Junior Natalie Rodriguez Cruz (Guarbo, Puerto Rico), three kills, and freshman Edsyl Irrizary (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), three service aces, also shined bright on the night for the Falcons.

Dean College was guided by the efforts from freshman Emily Larouche (Agawam, Mass.), who had a team-high eight digs and two kills. Classmate Jordan Cournoyer-Herivaux (Pawtucket, R.I.) collected seven digs along the backline while also adding two kills of her own and freshman Lena Muraski (Manchester, Conn.) dished out seven assists in the loss.

Fisher will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Castleton, Vermont for a tri-match with Castleton University and the University of Southern Maine. Dean will also be in action on Saturday as they are in a tri-match at Lesley University with Framingham State.
