BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team handed their lone senior a clean three set win this evening as the Falcons topped visiting Castleton University, 3-0 inside Pappas Gymnasium. The Falcons improve to 14-9 on the season after taking the three sets by scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-14. The Spartans fall to 5-18.

It was the final home game in the career for senior captain Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico). Aime was one of the first recruited student-athletes in Women's Volleyball history as her and the program started five seasons ago. The libero has complied a career record of 50-43 with a NIAC Championship in 2018.

Fisher was guided by the offensive attack of junior Macy Barnes (Duart, Calif.). Barnes hammered down a game-high 19 kills with a .459 hitting percentage while picking up 14 digs. Classmate Aya Al-Juriashi (Walnut, Calif.) added eight kills with a block solo and fellow junior Nathalie Rodriguez Cruz (Guarbo, Puerto Rico) chipped in with seven kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Junior Natalia Ortiz (Humacao, Puerto Rico) provided a solid all-around effort as she led the team with 17 digs to go along with her eight kills. Freshman Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) dished out 42 assists to direct the offense to a .316 team hitting percentage and Aime finished her night with 16 digs. Freshman Edsyl Irrizary (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) picked up seven digs and fellow rookie Lilliana Figueroa (Fajardo, Puerto Rico) contributed four kills and four service aces in the win.

Castleton saw freshman Hailey Martinovich (Rochester, N.Y.) lead the team with 12 kills and three total blocks. Junior Lizzie Goodrich (Essex Junction, Vt.) and freshman Vanessa LeBrun (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) each finished with five kills and senior Jessica Trudeau (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) provided three kills in the setback. Senior Bre MacDuff (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) handed out 15 assists on the evening while sophomore Mackenzie Wade (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) recorded the game-high of 19 digs.

Aime and the Falcons will close out the 2021 regular season on Wednesday evening as they travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a 7pm contest. Castleton, meanwhile, will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with a conference match at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
