Women's Volleyball: Velazquez named CAC Setter of the Week

GWINNETT, GA. – The Continental Athletic Conference announced earlier today that Fisher College sophomore Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) has been named the conference's Volleyball Setter of the Week. This is the first time this season that Velazquez has been recognized by the conference after receiving the honor twice a year ago.

Velazquez led the Falcons to a 2-1 season opening week, with wins over Purchase State (N.Y.) and Albertus Magnus College. The second year setter dished out a total of 71 assists over her nine sets played for a 7.89 assists per set average. Velazquez had 28 assists in the team's 3-0 win over Purchase State before adding 27 assists in the straight set win over Albertus Magnus. She also handed out 16 assists in the Falcons season opening loss at Nichols while contributing defensively on the week with 15 digs and offensively with eight service aces.

The Falcons will return to action tomorrow night as they welcome Fitchburg State University to the Pappas Gymnasium for a 7pm match. Live stats and video are available for the contest and can be found here at FisherFalcons.com.
