Women's Volleyball: Fisher tops Albertus, 3-0

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team notched another victory this evening as they swept visiting Albertus Magnus College inside the Pappas Gymnasium. The Fisher Falcons improve to 9-3 overall while the Albertus Falcons fall to 3-9.

Fisher earned the three set win by set scores of 25-21, 25-8, and 25-15.

Freshman Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) paced the Fisher offensive as she hammered down eight kills. Senior Aya Al-Juraishi (Walnut, Calif.) also contributed with eight kills as she recorded a .353 hitting percentage along with a block solo. Sophomore setter Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) dished out 27 assists on the evening while classmate Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) collected 21 digs patrolling the backline. Senior Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) had herself a solid evening with six kills and nine digs in the win.

Albertus was guided by the offensive efforts from senior Peyton Davis (North Haven, Conn.), who led the team with five kills while also assisting along the backline with 12 digs. Sophomore Rachael Pellegrini (Clinton, Conn.) handed out six assists and junior Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn.) led the team with 14 digs.

Fisher will look to keep the winning streak alive when they return to action on Friday evening in Vermont. The Falcons will battle Rhode Island College before taking on the hosts Castleton University in a scheduled tri-match. Albertus returns home to Connecticut as they prepare to host Salem State University on Thursday night.
