Women's Volleyball: Falcons sweep tri-match at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team returned to their winning ways this afternoon as they swept both ends of a tri-match at Colby-Sawyer College. The Falcons defeated Dean College in the afternoon's middle match 3-0 before besting the hosts Chargers in the finale 3-0. The wins catapult the Falcons to an overall record of 8-3 while the Bulldogs fall to 2-8 and Colby-Sawyer slides to 5-6. In the day's opening match, CSC topped Dean in straight sets.

Game Two: Fisher College 3, Dean College 0 (Final)

The Falcons took care of business in the middle match as they earned the straight set victory by set scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-16.

Senior Aya Al-Juraishi (Walnut, Calif.) paced the offensive attack for Fisher as she recorded a .556 hitting percentage with 11 kills over the three sets. Classmate Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) notched the game-high of 12 kills and fellow senior Ashly Velazquez (Downey, Calif.) added eight winners in the contest. Sophomore setter Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) handed out 26 assists along with picking up eight digs while sophomore libero Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) led the defensive effort with a game-high 19 digs. Freshman Caroline Saucier (Sarasota, Fla.) added five kills and block assist in the victory for the Falcons.

The Bulldogs saw senior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) register the team high with seven kills and a .357 hitting percentage. Freshman Caitlin Cooper (Amherst, N.H.) provided additional offensive help with four kills while both sophomores Emily Larouche (Agawam, Mass.) and Jordan Herivaux (Pawtucket, R.I.) each chipped in with two kills apiece. Junior Bella Driscoll (Plymouth, Mass.) had 13 assists in the setback with freshman Skylar Raskevitz (Easthampton, Mass.) leading the defense with 14 digs.

Game Three: Fisher College 3, Colby-Sawyer College 0 (Final)

Fisher finished off the six-set tri-match sweep in the finale as they topped the host Chargers by set scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-18.

Barnes was the team leader in the clubhouse as she registered 10 kills and freshman Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) added six kills in the win. Paola Velazquez recorded another 20+ assist game as she finished with 21 helpers with senior Natalia Ortiz (Humacao, Puerto Rico) patrolling the backline as she scooped up 11 digs.

Colby-Sawyer was guided by sophomore Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.), who had the game-high of 11 kills and senior Mia Harmon (Concord, N.H.) added seven kills in the three-set loss. Sophomore Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.) was the assist leader with 26 assists and classmate Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) collected a team-high nine digs.

Fisher will return back to the Pappas Gymnasium on Tuesday night as they host Albertus Magnus College. Dean will host Bridgewater State University when they return to the court as well on Tuesday evening while Colby-Sawyer will travel to New England College on Thursday night.
