Women's Volleyball: Falcons open season at Nichols

DUDLEY, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team kicked off their much anticipated 2022 campaign this evening with a 3-0 setback on the road at Nichols College. The Bison were victorious in the season opener for both programs by set scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-13.

Freshman Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) had an all-around brilliant collegiate debut as the rookie hammered down six kills and collected a team-high eight digs on the defensive side. Senior Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) led the team with seven kills while also chipping in with seven digs and classmate Aya Al-Juriashi (Walnut, Calif.) recorded five winners in the loss. Sophomore setter Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) dished out 16 assists on the evening and freshman Caroline Saucier (Sarasota, Fla.) notched two kills and a block assists in her first collegiate contest.

Nichols junior Haylee Granato (Manchester, Conn.) paced the offensive attack for the Bison as she totaled nine digs and a .643 hitting percentage. Sophomore Luna Colozzo (Winchester, Mass.) provided additional help with seven kills and freshman Sydney Ball (Enfield, Conn.) contributed six kills in the win. A pair of freshman in Ruby St. Onge (Coventry, Conn.) and Kya Burdier (Haverhill, Mass.) each handed out 13 assists with Liz Diorio totaling the game-high of 19 digs.

Fisher will look to get into the win column this weekend as they travel down to New Haven, Connecticut for a tri-match with Albertus Magnus College and Purchase State University (N.Y.). Nichols will host Lesley University in a scheduled double-header on Monday afternoon.
