Women's Volleyball: Falcons sweep DH from UMPI

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team picked up a pair wins this morning as they defeated the University of Maine at Presque Isle 3-0 and 3-0 in a conference double-header. The sweep propels the Falcons to an overall record of 19-6 while the Owls fall to 3-18 overall.

Game One: Fisher College 3, University of Maine-Presque Isle 0 (Final)

The Women's Volleyball team powered past UMPI in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-13.

Senior Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) led the way offensively for the Falcons as she had 105 kills while also collecting 18 digs. Freshman Caroline Saucier (Sarasota, Fla.) followed with 7 kills and senior Aya Al-Juraishi (Walnut, Calif.) with 5 kills. Sophomore setter Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) directed the team with 21 assists and classmate Natalia Ortiz (Humacao, Puerto Rico) scooped up 19 digs along the backline.

UMPI was paced by sophomore Rachel Walker (Pelham, AL) who led the team with 6 kills and 9 digs. Junior Alondra Lopez-Aquino (Los Angeles, Calif.) added 4 kills and 2 aces for the Owls. Senior Makayla Miskiewicz (Orlando, Fla.) dished out 3 kills and 10 digs while junior Amalia Erives (Albuquerque, NM) contributed 10 assists and 5 digs. Sophomore Alexis Engel (Cheyenne, WY) chipped in with 20 digs in the loss.

Game Two: Fisher College 3, University of Maine-Presque Isle 0 (Final)

The Women's Volleyball team completed the double-header against UMPI in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-16.

Senior Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) led the way offensively for the Falcons as she hammered down 10 kills while also collecting 12 digs. Freshman Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) followed with 7 kills and senior Aya Al-Juraishi (Walnut, Calif.) with 6 kills. Sophomore setter Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) directed the team with 30 assists and classmate Natalia Ortiz (Humacao, Puerto Rico) scooped up 22 digs along the backline.

UMPI was paced by sophomore Rachel Walker (Pelham, AL) who led the team with 6 kills, 7 digs, and 1 block. Senior Makayla Miskiewicz (Orlando, Fla.) dished out 5 kills and 4 digs while junior Amalia Erives (Albuquerque, NM) contributed 3 kills, 5 assists, and 7 digs. Sophomore Alexis Engel (Cheyenne, WY) chipped in with 14 digs in the loss for the Owls.


The Falcons completed this four-game weekend 3-1 and 2-0 for the day. The Falcons will travel to Eastern Nazarene on Friday with a 7pm start.
