Women's Volleyball: Falcons sweep DH from WAU

BROOKLINE, MASS. – The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team picked up a pair of Continental Athletic Conference wins this evening as they defeated Washington Adventist University 3-0 and 3-0 in a conference double-header. The wins propel the Falcons to an overall record of 21-7, 2-0 in the CAC while the Shock fall to 2-7 overall, 0-2 in conference play.

Game One: Fisher College 3, Washington Adventist 0 (Final)

Facing the Shock for the second time this season, the Women's Volleyball team powered past Washington Adventist in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-9.
Senior Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) led the way offensively for the Falcons as she hammered down 14 kills while also collecting 5 digs. Fellow senior Aya Al-Juraishi (Walnut, Calif.) had 9 kills while freshman Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) added 7 kills. Sophomore setter Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) directed the team with 18 assists and classmate Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) scooped up 11 digs along the backline.

WAU was paced by senior Amber Nicole Morman (Cleveland, TN) with 7 kills and 3 digs. Senior Sara Adalla (Nashville, Tenn.) as well as junior Angelica Sterling (St. Thomas, VI) chipped in with 4 kills and 3 digs a piece. Junior Lynnell White (Washington, D.C.) handed out 8 helpers for the Shock. Freshman Samiah Gross (Great Mills, MD) chipped in with 11 digs

Game Two: Fisher College 3, Washington Adventist 0 (Final)

The Falcons completed the double-header sweep as they took all three sets in the finale by scores of 25-9, 25-9, and 25-10.
Barnes once again was the offensive leader as she totaled 9 kills. Alicia Tkach and Ashly Velazquez each added five kills, respectively. Senior Aya Al-Juraishi contributed 4 kills and 4 service ace points. Paola Velazquez dished out another 19 assists in the win while Irizarry collected 14 digs.

WAU was led by Adalla who had 3 kills and 3 digs. Amber Nicole Morman picked up 2 kills and 2 assists. Senior Anastasia Allen (Waldorf, Md.) and freshman Ashley Green (Newburg, NY) contributed one kill a piece. Gross (Great Mills, MD) gave 16 digs.

The Falcons move to 4-0 in conference play. Both teams will be back in action this week. Fisher will be traveling to Mass. Maritime on Wednesday to play at 7pm. WAU will travel to Cheyney University on Tuesday with a 7pm start.
