Women's Volleyball: Falcons power past Elms in five sets

CHICOPEE, MASS. - The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team won the contest against College of Our Lady Elms this afternoon, 3-2. The victory sends the Falcons to 23-8 for an overall record. Elms falls to 12-16.

Senior Macy Barnes (Duarte, Calif.) led the offensive effort for the Falcons with 15 kills and 15 digs while freshman Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) gave Fisher 11 kills and 6 digs. On the defensive end, sophomore Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) contributed 3 assists and 24 digs while sophomore Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) also chipped in with 30 assists and 15 digs in the win.

Elms was paced by senior Jaylianne Ramos Figueroa (Boca Raton) who gave 21 kills and 16 digs. Classmate Laura Jensen (Torrance) also had 21 kills for the Bolts and had 15 digs. Alysha Izquierdo contributed 8 kills and 13 digs while Jaylen Holman (Las Cruces, NM) dished out 45 assists and had 18 digs.

Both teams will be back in action when they return to the court this week. Fisher will be hosting a double header against the University of Maine-Fort Kent on Friday starting at 4pm. Elms will be traveling to Lasell University on Tuesday with a 7pm start time.
