Women's Volleyball: Falcons blanked by Wellesley

WELLESLEY, MASS. - The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team dropped a contest this evening to Wellesley College, 3-0 with scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-23. The loss sends the Falcons to a 2-4 overall record. The Blue's record rises to 4-1.

Freshman Natalia Ramirez (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico), Senior Ali Tkach (Middleton, Mass.), senior Mayouri Yath (Amherst, Mass.), junior Caroline Saucier (Sarasota, Fla.), and freshman Alondra Farinacci (Ponce, Puerto Rico) all contributed offensively, pitching 2 kills each over the three sets. Farinacci also chipped in with a team high of 9 assists. Senior Edsyl Izarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) led the defense gathering 18 digs. Following her, senior Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) added 11 digs and 5 assists in the loss.

Wellesley's offense was paced by sophomore Kate Giang (Corte Madera, Ca.) with 14 kills, a block, and 7 digs. Sophomore Caroline Meyer (Indianapolis, In) followed with 9 kills and 7 digs as well. Freshman Else Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) contributed 14 digs in the effort as well as the team high of 18 assists. However, junior Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) led the Blue defensively having 19 digs in the win.

The Falcons will be facing Vermont State University Lyndon in a doubleheader at Pappas Gymnasium (Brookline, Mass.) on Tuesday starting at 4pm. Wellesley will be on the road facing the University of New England on Saturday at 5pm.
