DUDLEY, MASS. - The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team won the contest against Nichols College this afternoon, 3-1. The victory sends the Falcons to 9-6 for an overall record. Nichols falls to 2-6.
Senior Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) led the offensive effort for the Falcons with 15 kills and 7 digs while freshman Alondra Farinacci (Ponce, Puerto Rico) gave Fisher 7 kills, 13 assists, and 12 digs. On the defensive end, senior Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) contributed 5 serve ace points and 27 digs while senior Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) also chipped in with 15 assists and 2 serve ace points. Sophomore Sofia Campos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) was also able to gather 17 digs in the win for the Falcons.
Nichols was paced by Graduate Student Haylee Granato (Manchester, Conn.) who gave 8 kills and 4 blocks. Junior Mairead Frost (Kingston, Mass.) and senior Luna Colozzo (Winchester, Mass.) followed with 7 kills a piece. Colozzo also led the defense earning 19 digs for Bisons. Graduate Student Liz Diorio (Wolcott, Conn.) was able to add 14 digs while junior Kya Burdier (Haverhill, Mass.) put up 17 assists and 11 digs for the Bison's loss.
Both teams will be back in action when they return to the court this week. Fisher will be hosting a double header against the University of Vermont State Johnson on Friday starting at 5pm. Nichols will be traveling to Gordon College on Saturday with a 4pm start time.
