Women's Volleyball: Falcons win streak snapped at UMass-Boston

BOSTON, MASS. – Fisher College fell 3-1 to University of Massachusetts - Boston in a competitive match. After winning the first set 25-17, Fisher lost three straight sets: 17-25, 11-25, and 11-25. With this result, Fisher drops to a 12-6 record, while the Beacons improve to 9-6.

For Fisher, senior Alicia Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) led the offense with 7 kills and 9 digs. Freshman Alondra Farinacci (Ponce, Puerto Rico) contributed 7 assists and 13 digs, and senior Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) added 6 kills and 4 assists. Senior libero Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) had an outstanding defensive performance with 4 serve aces and 20 digs, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Beacons' strong finish.

UMass Boston was led by sophomore Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.), who had 14 kills. Freshman Mary Matthews (Wilsonville, Ore.) excelled with 5 serve aces and 21 digs, while freshman setter Audrey Cofield (Ypsilanti, Mich.) dished out 26 assists, 17 digs, and 2 serve aces. Junior Lauren Westlund (Phoenix, Ariz.) contributed 12 kills, 5 serve aces, and 14 digs, helping to propel the Beacons to victory.

Fisher College will travel to face Norwich University on October 4th at 6:00 PM. UMass Boston will return home to face University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on October 9th at 6:00 PM.
