LYNDON, VT. - The Fisher College Women's Volleyball team dominated both matches of a doubleheader against the University of Vermont State-Lyndon, securing 3-0 victories in each contest. Lyndon will slide to a 0-13 record, while Fisher will sit at 17-12.
Game One: Fisher College 3, University of Vermont State - Lyndon 0 (Final)
In Game One, senior Ali Tkach (Middleton, Mass.) was outstanding with 12 kills and 7 service aces. She was supported by junior Caroline Saucier (Sarasota, Fla.), who recorded 6 kills and 7 aces. Senior Mayouri Yath (Amherst, Mass.) added 6 kills, while freshman Diana Rios (Caguas, Puerto Rico) tallied 10 assists. Freshman Natalia Ramirez (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) also contributed 14 assists, and senior Edsyl Irizarry (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) was strong defensively with 16 digs.
For Lyndon, junior Kiara Mack (Milton, Vt.) led the offense with 4 kills. Senior Charlotte Morris (Middletown, Del.) posted 2 assists and 6 digs, while freshman Alexis Coutermarsh (Springfield, Vt.) recorded 5 digs.
Game Two: Fisher College 3, University of Vermont State - Lyndon 0 (Final)
In Game Two, Fisher continued their dominance with 8 kills from Saucier, including 2 solo blocks, and 7 kills from Tkach. Senior Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) added 6 kills. Ramirez posted 18 assists and 6 service aces, while freshman Adriana Franco (San Juan, Puerto Rico) contributed 10 assists and 6 service aces. Edsyl Irizarry added 14 digs to keep Lyndon from gaining momentum.
Lyndon struggled once again, with Mack contributing 3 kills. Freshman Malika Wheeler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had one kill and 2 digs, while Coutermarsh added another kill and 2 digs. Senior Morris posted 6 digs and 3 assists.
Next up for Fisher is a doubleheader at home against the University of Maine Fort Kent on Friday, October 25th, starting at 5 p.m. Lyndon will travel to Vermont State University - Johnson for a match on October 20th at 1 p.m.
